Mystery Blogger Award

My apologies in advance for the 37 million different fonts. I tried to fix it, I couldn’t, I’m admitting defeat. You have been warned.

What a lovely surprise to be nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award! I would like to thank Dandelion B’s Diary of Me for nominating me! When you have a moment, check out her blog.  Her page is filled with lots of great posts on wide variety of topics, including: crafting, upcycling, thrifting, cooking, and the realities of living life with several chronic illnesses.

They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. 1. I love and terribly miss walking on the beach, barefoot. I live near the beach and love to ride down the coastline, but sometimes it just plain makes me sad. I miss actually walking on the warm sand, feeling my toes in the sand, the sun on my cheeks, and the wind in my hair.

2. I love the sound and smell of the rain. It’s a precious and rare occurrence here in Southern CA.

3. I love when people treat one another with respect and kindness. My mother used to tell me we are all somebodies baby. That taught me to look at people as a whole, not just the person before me, but take into consideration their whole life, before passing judgement.

In an effort to still get this out the door today but not use any excess energy I’m going to skip this part. My apologies!! I will ask one “weird or funny question” here and if you feel like it, answer in the comments. 😊 Let’s see…. Which Disney movie character do you most closely identify with? I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours. 😄

1. Do you have any pets?

Two kitties, Lily and Rusty.

2. If you craft/create, what is your favorite type, Baking and Cooking count!

Currently I’m enjoying watercolors. Several years ago, I figured out a way to watercolor in bed.  My watercolors are very small (a few inches). Before that I was learning to crochet via step-by-step videos, which I loved, but it’s hard to get supplies when you’re housebound, and I got a frozen shoulder, so that was the end of that.

3. Do you blog via Laptop, Desktop, or Phone/Tablet

Laptop and phone, depending on the day. Usually post on laptop (health permitting), but sometimes I’m too ill to sit up so those days I post from my phone while lying flat in bed. I know, it’s the glamorous life over here. 😉

4. Do you have Netflix? Or Prime Video? If so what are you currently binge watching?

Yes, both. Not binging anything but I am re-watching Heartland (one of my all-time favorite shows). I sometimes like to turn on the Walton’s or Little House on the Prairie during the day for background company. Noticing a theme there? I’m a country girl at heart.

5. My silly question is name 3 “odd” foods you enjoy.

Hmmm… I’m not a foodie and am pretty picky so this is a tough one. 1. I used to love to put Fritos on my tuna sandwiches.  2. I like my popcorn a little bit burnt…before you think gross (!), I’ve read the craving is linked to anemia so that’s my excuse. 😊 3. I also like my marshmallows a little overly toasty, so yes, a little burnt too. No excuses there, but gosh I love toasted marshmallows. 😊

I don’t really have a favorite post, but according to you guys n gals it’s this one. It’s been shared hundreds of times and I’m not sure why it keeps getting views as it’s over a year old but it’s floating around out there somewhere. Hopefully it’s helping people because that was my intention.

And I think that about wraps it up! Thank you again to Dandelion B’s Diary of Me for the nomination! I really appreciate it and my apologies for skipping a couple steps.

A few more of my little doodles below. The prompts this month on World Watercolor Group are all related to ‘Fun in the Sun’, so it’s been enjoyable to follow along with everyone’s work. You’ll see three seahorses posted because I thought it’d be fun to show you my painting progression, although truthfully I like the middle one the best. 😊 Hoping today is as best as it can be for you.🌼

  2. Glad you had a chance to do a post, great question but I had to think as Disney movies are not my fave, however its always the cartoons that come to mind. I am most like BEN , the dad in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day…if it can happen it happens to me..ALOT lol.

I LOVE your oscar pic and the 1st sea horse… Have you ever thought of scanning them and having them printed into cards? They are gorgeous! Painting is my least talent lol. I love crocheting but have to keep it to stitches and projects that are easy on my hand…sometimes youll find me laying down or semi laying down crocheting away. I think i mentioned it in my post…I Love chips on my sammies! Im not sure our prime or NF has little house ..fustrating that canada has different shows at the moment i am watching old school 21 jump street on prime. Being anemic myself i cant think if anything “odd” i crave but its interesting the things you mentioned that are linked to it. Ive even read dirt and ice is an anemia craving too! I avoid ice as i have sensatice teeth but i do find the last few years i need ice in my drinks as before i never added ice ( i have to use a straw)

    1. Mark Poppins is one of the only Disney movies I like 😬😁 But I love it! I haven’t seen the movie you’re referring to but I did used to read my son that book when he was little. Such a sweet story.

Someday I’d like to make cards but I’ll need a bit better health and start up money for that. Someday… For now I’m just holding on to all my doodles.

Isn’t crochet such a peaceful activity?! So calming. What’s your favorite thing to make?

Little House is just on daytime tv here, I’m not sure if it’s anywhere else. Thank you again for the nomination, it was fun. 😊

  3. Oh and forgot to mention my brother and SIL are in CA for the E3 conference…my brother texted me and said he never wants to leave..its soo hot there he says…he is how i use to be before all the disorders gave me hot flashes from hell…he is always freezing cold lol..i am actually allergic to the cold since i was young, when my anemia was first discovered i remember being so cold (inside summer with a/c) (winter inside with heat) id shake like a leaf…lips quivering and blue…and id break out in hives as if i was out in the middle of winter having allergies. Now oit of the blue my face goea beat read my eyes burn and i run outside in the middle of winter for relief. And its not even pre menopause…was tested and told im no where near even pre meno…lucky me lol

  4. Congratulations Mishka! This is definitely well deserved! I loved reading your answers and I discovered more things we have in common — I also like “burnt” marshmallows, Little House On The Prairie, and Heartland. I was so disappointed when I got to the end of Heartland; I may have to go back and re-watch also…. As always, I love your artwork. Oscar the Grouch is adorable, and your “beach-y” pictures are beautiful.

  5. We have Hulu and Netflix and I am eagerly waiting for them to put on more Heartland and When Calls the Heart. That is another really good one. My marshmallows have to be golden brown unless they go on a smore! Then I just need them hot and melted! I loved Little House on the Prairie as well, however when I heard Michael Landon had an affair I stopped watching anything he was in. Beautiful doodles as always!

  6. Congratulations on the well-deserved award! I love your no. 3 for the first part – “That taught me to look at people as a whole, not just the person before me, but take into consideration their whole life, before passing judgement.” That’s such a powerful perspective to take; if only more people thought like that the world would be a kinder place.
I can’t blog on my phone. I don’t even have the app, I find these things far too fiddly for phones so attempting to blog would probably drive me to a nervous breakdown. Burnt popcorn and anaemia, I’d never heard that link before. I actually like a lot of food a little ‘too’ well done, like crumpets I’ve been known to toast for about 10 minutes!
Lovely art as always, the lobster is so cool! 🙂
    Caz xx

    1. Thank you 🌸 I’ve never had a crumpet. Are they like English muffins? I’ve read repeatedly that once people fix their anemia they don’t crave burnt popcorn anymore. We shall see😁 if I can ever get my body to absorb some more iron. Thank you for your compliments and for stopping by for a read 🌸

      1. I’d be very interested to hear if your burnt popcorn cravings disappear once you get enough iron! These are crumpets –
        Yum yum…
If you don’t absorb iron well and struggle with supplements, it may be worth asking about an IV infusion. I had one last year and it’s certainly seems the quickest, easiest way when other options fail to treat anaemia. xx

      2. Crumpets look delicious! Wondering why they never made their way across the pond 🤔😊

My hematologists definitely wants to do an infusion but I don’t tolerate the liquid iron well and the pharmacist said the infusion would not be a good idea based on side effects. So I eat so much spinach I give Popeye a run for his money 😉

  7. It was great to read a little more about your tastes Mishka 😀
I always think seahorses look like they have a trumpet for their snouts 😀 cute little fellas they are!
I really can’t think what my favorite Disney movie is I’ll blame fibro fog 😉
    Bless you,
